Mission and purpose

It has become increasingly clear that some of the established, conventional ‘old’ ways of thinking and leading are less and less fit for purpose in such an uncertain and rapidly changing world. So, whilst organisations will continue to need highly experienced capable senior managers and leaders they are also recognising that they are short of people who possess transformational change leadership capacities. These different kind of leaders understand the connection between personal and system change and are capable of more complex thinking. They also tend to be personally mature, self-aware, emotionally intelligent, relationally connected, values-led, and committed to socially-wise, sustainable action and outcomes.

Inner transformation

Outer change

Individual consciousness development

Collective consciousness development

All our work is based in the fundamental connection between the inner and outer dimensions of transformational change. More conscious people, more conscious leadership, more conscious teams and organisations – a positive, self-reinforcing dynamic that in turn contributes to a more conscious world. To enable this, we create the conditions - psychologically safe, held space - where people more readily take the risks to grow, heal, learn and transform. In doing this, we help people re-connect with themselves, find their compass, form deeper connectedness with others, and have the quality of conversations so difficult to find in everyday life.

In addition we are committed to supporting the development of organisational and social/political change leaders as well as concerned citizens in the community context, who are working for system-level change.

You may be wondering why we call the company Courage and Spark®.

Courage – because the nature of ‘inner-work’, deeper self-discovery, is of itself a courageous act. Many people avoid it if they can, and only do it as a last resort. However, for those looking for growth and development, Courage and Spark can provide that space. Spark – because when people come back to themselves; when they get unstuck; and get in touch with their purpose and vision, there is a release of energy. You can often see the moment when the spark occurs. Re-ignition. Connectedness.
